In today's current recruiting world, getting the hang of LinkedIn is beneficial for job-searchers and employers alike.
Knowing LinkedIn tips can be especially helpful when using the site to job search.
In today's age, recruiters are using the site in different ways to reach out to potential candidates with the increase in remote work from home jobs.
Having a passion for writing and storytelling, the LinkedIn bio has become a fun way to interact in the "social job networking site". Here are my personal favorite tips:
Be personable- Write things that are meaningful to you. Where are you at, and how did you get here? Are there certain aspects of your career that you enjoy, and how can you fit that into your profile?
Storytelling- Weave impactful language into your bio. Tell a story, and become memorable by using descriptive words and imagery. Using an anecdote that represents your work style is helpful too!
Showcase your passions- There's something that drives each one of us, its part of the human experience. Cultivate a future connection by writing what is important to you, and how you shine.
Include accomplishments- I've seen a few great bios that are enticing with their use of accomplishments. This can be meaningful in leveraging your skills, but make sure the accomplishments are applicable to the kind of work you would like to pursue! For example, if you have had success leading a multi-dimensional team with a large budget and are looking into operational management, this is an accomplishment you can showcase!
A call to action- Ending your bio with a focus on potential connection is important. Set up your future interactions by posing a leading question, topic or way to get into contact with you, mentioning your excitement on connection too. This is a good way to show availability and open mindedness if you are "open to work"!
I'm not an expert, but I've enjoyed updating my personal and peer's bios in order to be more forward on the site. I've seen success in my LinkedIn profile page views and searches after updating using these tips, and I hope they help you find your "personalized bio" voice too!
